From what I understand, there are four different types of sugars-- Fructose--found in fruits Lactose--found in milk products sucrose--found in refined sugar and honey Glucose--found in baked goods, syrups, basically, anything you know to be high in sugar. The first two sugars, fructose and lactose are O.K. to eat because they don't dramatically upset your blood-sugar content...won't lead to that fateful sugar-crash. Avoid the other two, sucrose and glucose. These are found mainly in processed sugars, anything packaged or sweetened. If you stick to fruit-juice sweetened products you should be o.K. As to the carbohydrate question, it is a good idea to avoid any refined carbohydrates which translate into sugars immediately after entering your system. Stick to unprocessed whole grains like whole wheat pastas and breads. Avoid white breads, bleached pastas, refined cereals. The less refined a carbohydrate is, the less it will affect your blood-sugar.
