I have suffered with this for 18 months with very little improvement. I went to a podiatrist to see why I was limping and he said I had a heal spur. He sold me custom orthotics and said to wear them all the time I was up. They made my feet really sore, but he said to keep wearing them. I did for 3 months until I gave up. I was worse than when I started. I then bought Bekenstock's which wore for 3 months, then was sold Mephistos, and then I was sold Dansco Clogs. I did not improve and went to an orthopedic surgeon to see about a cortisone shot. He said no to the shot which can destroy the fat pad in the bottom of the foot. He made a hard plaster cast which was cut in half to use as a night splint. I tried to sleep inthat, but "sleep" is a real misnomer here. There is no sleep with that thing. It killed my back which has already had 2 disc surgeries. I got him to then send me to physical therapy and the PT told me to not wear ANY of the $1,500.00 worth of shoes I had been sold. He said to get shoch absorbing tennies like Nike airmax and to ice my foot 5 times a day for 5 minutes . I did towel stretches before getting out of bed in the morning , and stair stretches 3 times a day for 30 second holds. I have done all this and my feet still are awful. The PT said not to let anyone tell me to operate on this! I am 18 months down the road, and my life is so limited to what I can do. I went to a physician's assistant who sold me Visco Spot heal cups, but they hurt. I took them out. I do not know what to try next and everyone tells you something different. I have taken Naprosyn anti-inflammatories and Daypro. It didn't do much for my feet.....but my back sure felt better! The PT told me totake 5 Advil a day which I did, but not much improvement. I am at a loss about what to try next. I have spent thousands of dollars and all for naught. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have given up on the icing except after a bath. Help!!! Thanks.
