Hi. I'm an IC survivor, too. I've done Bladder distension, DMSO instillations, meds, etc. Not too much change in a year. I find it extremely hard to exercise but think it's essential to keeping your endorphin levels up to help combat the pain. I've found Yoga to be helpful. I am doing behavior modification techniques right now. That is helping more than anything else. This Dr. Blaivas talks about it in his book "Conquering Bladder and Prostate Problems." So far so good. Meditation, music in my discman at night helps me relax, breathing exercises, basic stress management techniques all help me to cope and I feel that it helps the pain. There's also a book "The Body Mind Prescription" by Dr. John Sarno that helped me with a 15 year chronic, very debilitating headache condition. He explains how stress causes a depletion of oxygen in the cells and signals the brain to relieve that oxygen deficit by attacking someplace in the body, often a hereditary weakness. I cured my headache condition using very simple techniques, Then he also explains that when you start retraining your brain and get control of your condition it will go somewhere else. My IC started soon after the headaches stopped. I, unfortunately have found this to be true. So, I am going to persist with my IC using this same info.
