I've had 4 children and painted each time, but always made sure the room was very well ventilated and the windows open and ran a fan, too. Even if you have someone else paint for you, you'll still get the smell. Water-based paint is supposedly better to use. Perhaps this is a good time to use the old "when in doubt if it's safe, don't do it". Linda
