Whipple's Surgery

Jasmin

Message 1 of 6 Next

My father had just gone thru Whipple Surgery two months ago for suspected cancer of the head of the pankreas. The surgeon and physician were 98% sure that their diagnosis were correct. However after the surgery the surgeon informed me that the pankreas appeared to have hardened and it could not be cancer. Upon official report was filed, we were so glad that the pain he had been suffering was due to severe chronic pancreatitis. Notwithstanding that, due to the operation, his gall bladder, duodenum, 1/3 of pancreas and part of stomach was removed. 82 days after the operation, he is no longer depandant on the routine insulin jabs every morning as his pancreas is gradually resuming its role after the strike. However weight loss is still under constant observation. He was at one time losing weight at the of 1 lb every 3 days and now reduced to 1 lb since the past 10 days. Frequentcy of bowel movement is quite distressing. Sometime 4 to 5 times a day but minimum of 3 times a day is the usual norm. We are seeking sincere advice from anyone out there who can advice and provide information on the similar events. Please email to me directly. All mail will be replied to. Thanks.
