If you don't take PTU, or radioactive iodine, you may end up choking on food like I did. I have to have a 2nd dose of radioactive iodine. It made me very sick. However, surgery to remove thyroid is even scarier, it can damage your vocal chords. You will have to do something, or you will be in trouble. You can get bug eyes, that is usually irreversible. And if it puts ou to many thyroid hormones, you can also loose your hair at alarming rates. Go to an endocrinologist, before you have serious complications. Chest pain, and rapid pulse are also among the dangerous symptoms. Good luck to you
