Angie: I, too had PF for several years and tried many remedies recommended by the podiatrist. Stretching, cortisone injections, orhthotics, athletic shoes, night splints, etc. Nothing helped for long. Even though I was very apprehensive about surgery, I finally opted to have arthroscopic surgery. It was pain-free and had minimal healing time. It worked beautifully and my only regret was that I hadn't done it years sooner. Not only is that foot free of heel pain, I can't even find a scar! Unfortunately, I have PF in the other foot now and have moved so I have a new doctor who is reluctant to do the surgery. I will try other methods of treatment for awhile, but I will not hesitate to have surgery on this foot even if it means finding another doctor if there is no improvement in 6 months. Life is too short to be as restricted as mine was with heel pain. I hope this is helpful to you and good luck.
