My 19 yr. old daughter has been unable to continue her education because of debilitating symptoms. We have been to a private practice neurologist, University of Iowa Hospital and Mayo Clinic and no one can give us any concrete answers. She has had an MRI and diagnosed with a 7mm chiari. She has constant occipital headache but not the classic chiari headache which is made worse by cough or straining. Neck and spinal pain, nausea & vomiting, dizziness, numbness and tingling in arms and legs, blurred vision, fatigue, and lately dehydration. The doctors can only give us a 50% chance of improvement with surgery. My question: Is there anyone who has had chiari symptoms without the classic headache who has been helped by the surgery? I would appreciate any response. Thanks.
