Hello - I have just discovered this website after suffering the last week or so from a recurrence of my Epstein Barr Virus. I first was diagnosed with it about 9 years ago when my doctor, who happened to be actively involved with some national testing and research on it at the time, figured out what was going on with me. Thank goodness, he was very sympathetic with my symptoms which mostly included tremendous fatigue, major aching of my shoulders, arms (they felt like I'd been carrying something tremendously heavy for hours), headaches, etc. I had recently had some surgery, and then a sinus infection which seemed to trigger the virus. My doctor began to treat me with gamma globulin injections which helped tremendously!! I credit those injections with bringing me back to a pretty much normal life. I would still have episodes of the EBV every so often, but the gamma globulin always fixed me up pretty well. Then, a few years ago that doctor retired. The one I have now is not as tuned in to EBV, and to make matters worse, they have discontinued making gamma globulin!! Fortunately, B-12 shots help somewhat, but I am now having one of the worst recurrences I've had, with major aching and feeling tired and blah. I hadn't connected memory problems to EBV before reading information on this website, but I do have some problems with that also. I am almost 56 years old, and was really hoping I wouldn't have any major flare-ups anymore, although I realize the virus is with me for life. My heartfelt understanding of the symptoms of EBV goes out to all of you. I hope somebody discovers a real treatment for it very soon! Best to you all!
