I think that ditropan does work to a certain extent. It does NOT work well all by itself. I have to take Elavil, and Ditropan 3 times a day plus a prescription pain med in order to control the pain and urgency. If you still have urgency then you probably need to increase your dosage of ditropan. When I was on it only once a day it didn't help much. Now I still have the urgency when I have to go, but since the frequency is gone I don't mind the urgency. My bladder DOES empty completely when I go because of the Ditropan. I am also taking Elimron. this pill supposedly rebuilds the lining in your bladder. They say it takes at least 6 months before it starts to work so I am continuing on the pain and anticramp regimen for at least another 8-9 months (just to be safe). My pain is nearly controled. the Prescription pain med helps a lot. I have a bad kidney too so alot of the pain shoots up through it. Hopefully that will stop once the IC is more under control.
