About 2 weeks ago, on a Saturday, my 5 yr old son started complaingin about a sore throat. The next morning he had a fever of 103 and was vomiting everything he thried to swallow. I called our doctors office, they are open on Sundays but his regualr doctor was not there. The doctor did a throat culture and gave us a prescription for Penicilian and a suppository for the vomiting. he said they would call in a few days if he had strep. When we arrived home my son fell asleep for 2 hours and when he woke he was fine. No fever, no more red and white bumps on his throat. No upset stomach, he ate, drank and started running around as normal. I kept him home from Camo the next day, just in case, but to my ammazement he was fine. I didn't give him the meds and no one called to say it was positive. that is until today, two weeks later. The doctors office calls to tell me his strep test was positive and I should now give him the meds. (I am HIGHLY sensitive to strep infections and I am fine) Plus he has a doctors visit 2 days ago for a physicla for kindergarten. I told his doctor of the Sunday visit and he said nothing. He even looked in his throat during the exam...nothing. Is there a new 24 hr strep virus that I don't know about? Should I give him the meds? I don't want to if he doesn't need them. Should I just have him retested and wait another 2 weeks for the results? anyone have any advice??? Thanks, Kimb
