Restless Legs - Back pain

Leigh

Message 1 of 6 Next

I'm lucky. I have stumbled across a Dr. that is familiar with RLS and has several other patients that have it. In all the messages I have read I haven't found anyone that seems to have the SEVERE lower back pain that I have along with the restless legs. My dr. says that all of his other patients have this pain but I am wondering if we are the exception and not the rule. I honestly dont know which is worse for me, the "jumpy" legs or the pain which I would say is a 9 on a scale of 1-10. I am lucky to have a dr. that is not afraid to prescribe the necessary pain medicine but I believe that it may be causing a small degree of depression which I don't want to increase. I have tried the calcium, magnesium, vitamin e and other "home remedies" but clonapin (sp?) seems to work the best on the jumpiness. Is anyone else out there enduring the severe lower back pain as well as the restless legs? If so, is there any hope that it will get better? Also, my dr. says that RLS is a neurological disorder that seems to be distantly related to Parkinsons and/or Multiple Sclorosis however, there is very little research currently being done since it is not life threatening.
