first find the right Dr. to go to for treatment...You need a rheumatologist...Gout is a serious diease and left untreated it can kill you... there have been studies in VA hospitals with old men with extremembly high uric acid levels and under tightly controlled diets for months NONE were able to significantly reduce uric acid levels...usually only a few points...and no a few points don't help here...not when any reading over 5 is getting too high...and you have levels of 25 to 30 and only can lower them 5 or 6 points...not enought to suffer the diet...of course alcohol and liver..organ meat, wild meat, INCLUDING Turkey...are worst ,,but purines are in vegetables too, yeast,(breads) dried beans, mushrooms....No one can live on fruit and water for ever... See the right Dr..and get the proper treatment...before it does damage other places... I let it get in my kidneys, chew holes in the bone on my toe, before ever going to a Rheumatologist and getting right meds....I can tell u that kidney stones gout can cause hurts..I also have spondyloarthropathy,,which is secondary to gout...spuring of feet, heals, tendons..also it attached to a nerve near my elbow.... oh by the way...I am a woman 49 and have had this nearly 10 yrs....so I'm in the minority....usually women are old less that 10% of true gout victems are women...less than that my age...I had first attack at age 40 ...
