I, too, had a problem after surgery. Following 3 months of intense pain under the area you described, I was diagnosed with a Neuroma. Had surgery to remove it and wear a prostetic in the shoe and alls better. The pain over the bunion area continued to hurt as before tge surgery for the bubion. A podiatrist in Houston did an MRI and found nothing in the foot. All those years it was nerve entrapment in the spine that affects only that area of the foot. Now seeing a Pain Management Dr. and doing great. Good luck.
