About two months ago, I was hospitalized for what appeared to be a mini stroke. One of the neurologists who looked at my tests felt that I might have mitochondria disease. I am congenitally blind from retinitis pigmentosis which has been linked to mitochondria disease. Since my hospitalization, I have seen my internist who says the symptoms were from anemia and a neurologist who is supposed to be well versed in mitochondria disease who says that he thinks I had a stroke. He has ordered a battery of blood tests to be certain. Meantime, I would like to hear from anyone who has mitochondria disease because I have an intuition that I might have it. Please tell me of your experience with diagnosis, and what I can do to slow it down or put it in remission, if I do have it. Thank you.
