I am not sure what hemochromatosis is but I have had many catheters in my arms (known as pic lines) for IV antibiotic treatment. If this condition requires long term treatment or life time treatment you may want to ask your doctor about getting a mediport instead. It goes in the chest area but it is under the skin and is accessed by a needle. This is safer and prevents infections better. The mediport can last for 10 years.
