I had core decompression with fibular graft on right hip in 2005 and the same on the left in 2006. Both grafts took but while I am nearly pain free now in the right hip, my left still hurts either moderately or badly depending on the day and amount of activity. These surgeries are meant to buy time before a hip replacement is necessary. I am now 23 and will do anything to postpone needing a replacement. The replacements only last about 15 years and each time you get a new one it decreases the chances of success dramatically. If you at 36 were to get one already, you would likely be looking at wheelchair-bound life by 65, normal retirement age... It may hurt, but do what you can to postpone the replacement. Older patients will likely have a different opinion on this.
