Martha
This is sort of a long story but I'll try to be brief: I didn't have a period for 2 years when nursing my first born. 5 years later I had another baby and then had very irregular periods. Last year I went to an allergist to help me with a rash on my hands and feet. He did the regular scratch test for inhaled allergens and they all came back negative. So he asked me "what do you think you are allergic to?" I told him I can't stand eggs and when I eat onions or milk products, I burp them up for the entire day. He tested me for these things and well, I'm deathly allergic to them. I quit eating them and geez, I have normal monthly periods. Believe it or not, a food allergy. I would have never believed it if it hadn't happened to me. Evaluate your diet. If you are in tune to your body, you can sense what is not good for you, what upsets your stomach, what causes a rash, etc. Try eliminating those things. By the way, the rash on my hands and feet went away too.
