My son will be 13 in August. Since he had his tonsils and adenoids removed just before he turned 4, he has slowly and steadily gained weight. In the last 3 years he has developed chronic stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting, up to 22 times a day. When vomiting he ate only rice with light soy sauce for 2-3 weeks at a time, slept constantly, became depressed and developed chronic continuous migraine headaches which are lessened in intensity by 100mg. of Neurontin b.i.d.. He has been seen at age 8 and 12 by a pediatric endocrinologist who at age 12 felt that there was some pituitary gland problem that wasn't yet diagnosable. Now the GP had a hunch and checked his insulin level with other blood work. It came back 710 with a normal of 0-30. Any ideas? He has had an endoscopy and 24 hour gastrin levels done in 12/99.
