Hi, I have had 2 DVTs, the most recent at Christmas after a car accident. This was followed by a PE. I also have Factor V Leiden mutation. Touch wood, I am making a decent recovery and whilst on Warfarin for life, I know I need to exercise. I recently started walking/jogging to try and lose weight after the prolonged inactivity and even though I have to wear support hose on right calf, I have surprised myself by jogging continuously for up to one and a half miles. I am convinced I will progress. I still get strange sensations in the R calf, because of residual damage, but I don't think any thing can be done about it. Now, as to whether I'm supposed to do this or not - I don't know. All I know is that the feeling I get when I get home is the good old feeling I used to get when I was running a lot and that does more for my therapy than anything else. My advice - if it feels good, do it. Work within the comfort zone and you will progress.
