I have had scleroderma for 20 years and fortunately have been living pretty good inspite of the disease. It has affected by gums which caused me to lose my upper teeth, I've lost weight and mainly have problems with digestion. At the onset of the disease it was very frightening dealing with the unknown, but I educated myself and learned everything I could about the disease. I studied my eating habits and was able to eliminate most of those foods that affected my digestive system. My doctor works very closely with me as I do him and I keep him abreasted of any changes because he learns much about the disease through ourselves as patients. I have found numerous information through the internet that has helped me a lot. I give to the scleroderma foundation from which I receive a quarterly newsletter which is very helpful. One thing that bothers me in my bony shoulders. Does anyone else have this problem or a problem gaining weight?
