I suffered with PMR a number of years ago and the only medication that helped with the muscle pain and disuse of the muscles was Prednisone with horrific side effects. This lasted for about one year. Neither nor any of my family/acquaintances had heard of this condition prior to my having it - cause seems to be unknown. I am wondering about lasting effects of this condition as I have some muscle problems today. Also am highly allergic to medications since that time - I wonder if this is due to the high dosage and long usage of Prednisone. I do not recall problems with stomach acid - could this be due to medication? I agree that this is a very disabling and uncomfortable disease.
