I was diagnosed with scleroderma 6 years ago. I like you knew nothing of this illness until I was told I had it. I think it most important to educate ourselves as much as possible as we are ultimately in charge of our health. Over the years I have gone to many Dr.s and health centers including Stanford and Virginia Mason in Seattle where research is done on Scleroderma. I try to keep up on anything new that could be helpful to myself. I also go to a support group that is very helpful. We only meet yearly but it is very comforting to be able to share with others who are going through the same problems. Others can sympathize but don't understand fully. Good luck to you and keep a positive attitude. I try to concentrate on what I can do and not on what I can't.
