My brother is 17 and has SB. He has had several surgery's. This past summer was his recent surgery do to a close kidney failure. Although he has no mental damage, he experience's severe emotional damage. He is in a wheelchair and very independent. He has experienced depression and withdrawl from society. Sometimes he is very happy and other times he is depressed. I feel that God has blessed me with a brother like him. For those of you with children or siblings that experience SB I offer you some advice. Please be kind to them. They are so emotionally vulnerable. Treat them like a normal, healthy person and teach them to be independent.
