My daughter started having abdominal pains at 13 years old. She had several CAT scans that found ovarian cysts. She was put on birth control pills to regulate her hormones and lessen the pain. It worked for quite a while, but at 15 the pain became worse. Her gynecologist performed a laparoscopy - an outpatient surgical procedure - and found that she had endometriosis. He cauterized the abnormal tissue that he found, and she then went on a 6-month regimen of Lupron injections to completely stop her cycles. She is now back on the birth control pills, and is doing well. It is unusual for a young girl to have endometriosis, but not impossible. If your daughter continues to have pain and recurring cysts, continue to seek medical care for her, even if it means finding a second or third doctor for opinions. Her health is well worth it! Good luck!
