I have read through the posts to the question about Chiari surgery. I am going to have the surgery probably in June. My neurosurgeon told me that the surgery is actually a very low risk procedure. He has not given me any guarantees however as far as degree of success if any to improve my symptoms. I am so non functional that I have decided to give it a go. My quality of life is very bad and I figure that even a little improvement would be better than I am now.
