I didn't have Encephalitis but my 10yr old son did unfortunatley when he was 6 going on 7 contracted a viral infection and was diagnosed with viral encephalitis. It was a long drawn out awful heart breaking sickness, he is still recovering after 3 yrs. he was hospitalized for a total of 3 months in intesive care in the best children hospitals and we took him home with a NG tube and wearing diapers, he did not speak at all. But that was what we started with, he slowly relearned everything, like a baby all over again, we have our son and he is doing well, we are thankful for even having him here. I still think about why?? The Doctors can't tell me and I would love to talk to others who have went through this awful thing, thank you
