I was told I had a rectiseal and needed to get it reparied and when I went to the surgeon IT TURNED OUT TO BE A LARGE MASS. WHEN HE TOOK IT OUT HE ALSO HAD TO REMOVE 3 TO 4 INCHES OF MY COLON ,HE SAID MY COLON JUST KEPT FALLING OUT. i WAS TOLD THAT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE i MIGHT HAV TO HAVE MY COLON REMOVED BECAUSE i HAVE LARGE DIVERTICULIA ALL THROUGH MY COLON AND IT IS NOT HELD UP BY VERY MUCH MUSCLE. i WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 5 DAYS AND WAS KEPT PAIN FREE MOST OF THE TIME . THEY NEVER TOLd ME i COULD HAVE A EPiDURAL OR BELIEVE ME I WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT .AFTER I CAME HOME i STILL HAD LOTS OF PAIN. I LIVED IN THE BATHROOM. AND I had no control over my bowls for over a year I still cannot control the gas. So much muscle and nerves were cut out,Now the rectiseal has split about 192 way open and I do not want to go through the pain again. right now I'm swollen and sore. MY surgery was done on dec 22 2005. and I'm still liveing with the out come. I'm very thankful that there wasn't cancer We caught it in time. I have a colonostomy every 3 years and In one year I had 4 of them. anyone having questions on anything to do with colon problems I can proble help I have studied that subject for years. My mom had colon cancer in 2003 and shr would have died if she didn't have it out the night I took hewr to the er.for stomach cramps its been 4 years now and so far she is cancer free. she never had chemo or anything . they did give her a colostomy and I had to take care of her with that. but 3 months latyer she had it returned. Her cancer had completely blocked her colon off and the cancer had went outside the wall but not in the lymph nodes.
