Dysthymia - means depression that does not cycle with a manic phase. ODD - means that your child doesn't listen to adults, authorities and actively opposes efforts to get him to do the right thing. USCD - might mean unspecified Conduct Disorder. This means that he has gone beyond ODD and is most likely doing things that break rules as well as the law. You usually don't give those two at the same time. Perhaps the ODD was on intake and the USCD was on discharge? R/O PTSD means that he is exhibiting signs that he has undergone a serious trauma. Things like nightmares, sweats, flashbacks, hyper-vigilance, inability to sleep, over-reative to certain noises or stimuli that reminds him of the original incident. Most of all you should NOT be allowing anyone to diagnose your child without explaining everything to you. You need to be a part of the team that deals with the problems you son has. Don't let them marginalize you. You are the one who will be taking him home. Insist on being informed.
