Hi, name is Lindy, your message caught my attention cause I've just undergone an emergency operation last Thurs (31 july 03) for a divert that perforated big time 'n' yes on the LOWER RIGHT SIDE, very rare for women (I'm 42 yrs old 'n' in top shape.. I eat exceptionally well, exercise, cycle..the works..however, mine was congenital, not due to lack of fibre diet etc..diarhea, bloating, constipation but no bleeding EVER..my diet was perfect: lots of fruits, veggies, water galore ya name it..I'm no vegetarian by far but I love fruits 'n' veggies, sure I munch the crappy stuff once in a while, who does't right? .. my surgery went extremely well..I've just been released from the hospital this past Tues (Aug 5th) but must return for a few days for intravenous antibios as well as bucal bios, blood tests etc..my surgeon is the top at my hospital..the surgery itself was done by laparoscopy..greatest medical invention..no scar..healing is faster..I'm already walking about, sitting, of course I MUST give myself a few wks of good behaviour 'n' all should be ok... Joan, best advice...find a doc who will listen to you.. one who'll do all the necessary medical exams to find it..it could be hiding behind your appendex.. they can do a rectal exam by inserting a gloved, lubricated finger into the rectum to detect tenderness, blockage or blood but on your RIGHT SIDE..I myself went thru batteries of tests 'n' they could never find it..so fortunately for me when it perforated (peritonitis) they thought they were dealing with my appendex but were in for a rude surprise cause my divert was on the RIGHT SIDE..so you see its true..its possible..find the right doc 'n' don't abandon..never abandon..its your health..complications can be fatal..I was extremely lucky..I thank the good Lord for taking care of me..this message comes from Québec, Canada, Aug 9th ..take care xx
