Tina: I have been diagnosed several DVT and although I have not been pregnant yet, I have asked several doctors, and read much about DVT and pregnancy. What I have been told is that low molecular weight heparin, administered subcutaneously, does not cross the placenta and is therefore safe for preventing DVT during pregnancy. As regards bleeding during labor, I believe, heparin must be discontinued some hours before labor and it is also safe for breast-feeding. I have been administed low molecular weight heparin in the past and I never had any trouble. Good luck.LDS
