My Grandaughter suffered from night terrors. She got up every night after she had been asleep for only an hour or so. She would be totally distraught and it was a lot of stress just seeing her so upset. I read up on it and learned that it is better for the child NOT to wake them up. If you don't wake them, they don't remember it. At first we were waking her and by doing so she got to where she was aprehensive and afraid to go to sleep, fearing the thought of it happening again. We started not telling her when she did it and telling her that she was over the night terrors and that we thought she wasn't going to have any more. Soon after this they became less often, less disturbing and she finally quit in a couple of weeks all together. I do believe nerves and stress is the cause and informing the child of the details only enhances this. Thank you.
