Quite honestly, I have spent upwards of 300 dollars trying to get rid of my daughter's problem. She was more inclined to get it as she and her friends love to braid each other's hair, etc. (She was 8 at the time). I've bought RID, NIX, have had prescriptions (two). When I finally took her to my son's doctor and asked how common this is ( apparently, it's rampant and as common as chicken pox) he recommended heavy fatted mayonnaise on the hair for 4 hours wrapped in a plastic shower cap. He said this old-fashioned remedy works better than anything offered today as his experience has shown him. The fat in the mayonnaise smothers the live pests and the vinegar in it makes the hair shaft slippery enough to comb those nits out. We have had success with this method and wish I had done it sooner saving myself money and my daughter the embarassment and shame she must have felt. Hope you will have success too.
