Since 1974, we have been helping those with scoliosis by providing information and, having support groups and information lines. We have a variety of means by which you can get in contact with us as shown in the preceding. Additionally, you may have a support group or information line in your area. Please read further below to find the list of support groups or information lines. Support groups meet periodically, have rap sessions for the interchange of information and, often, guest speakers. A question and answer period for general questions is usually a part of the meeting. Again, please look for the list of support groups below. If you don't fine a support group in your area and would like to start one, let us know. We'll give all the help we can to get you started. We also provide a newsletter to members, BACKTALK, which is printed three or four times a year. BACKTALK is written by medical professionals and patients. There are "state-of-the art" articles on current diagnosis or management or treatment of scoliosis. The "Ask the Doctor" column contains questions from readers and answers from doctors. There usually is a "My Story" article in which a patient tells of her or his experience with scoliosis. Two psychologists write a column about psychological aspects of scoliosis. A source for "Pen Pals" is given as well as information about future meetings of support groups. RESEARCH The Scoliosis Association, Inc. furthers research into the causes of scoliosis through two projects. PLEASE AID AND SPEED THE EFFORTS OF RESEARCHERS BY MAKING A DONATION TO THESE FUNDS. 1. The Research Endowment Fund - We are striving to reach a goal of $ 100,000.00. When reached, we will take the annual interest and donate it for research into the causes and treatment of scoliosis. 2.
