Hi Steph I am 47 and have been diagnosed for over 7 years. I too have 4 sons but today with the help of my rheumitologist I am doing very well. I take medications that have kept my scleroderma from progressing and others that help relieve my symptoms. We will always have limitations and fears but you must learn to live only in the day that you have and worry about how you will feel on the next when it comes. I hope you get the right diagnosis and do well. I know the frustration of not being able to do certain things with your kids. My youngest was 11 when I was diagnosed and now he is in college and we are very close. The boys will learn to live with this and they will be more understanding that you may think. Write back and I will help if I can.
