I am a 33 year old female that has Lupus and hydrocephalus. In 1986, I had a shunt placed in my head and just recently (Jan 2000) I had to have the shunt replaced, since the original shunt stopped working. Has anyone experienced red blotching near the incision in the abdomen area, and how can you check your shunt to make sure it is properly working besides/along with having MRI's?
