I feel for you and your son, as I am 34 years old and have dealt with FD most of my life. Though I am not a Dr., I feel your best bet for success will come after your son is done growing. I was always told that living bone is the best way to overcome the problems associated with FD. My best success (in my Femur) came when my Dr. removed my left Fibula to repair and strut my right Femur. The recovery was long and difficult. However, the cortex on my right Femur actually regenerated and got thicker! If you can use your own bone you are much better off (you dont need your fibulas) I went from walking with a cane to doing 200 mile bike races. Good luck!
